The TX-SR805 serves as the AVR, with Behringer A500 amps each bridged to 500w for the front speakers. Then another A500 for the first set of surround while the 805 powers the other 5 speakers. The 2 players are the OPPO BDP-83 and the Toshiba HD-XA2. Between the two I can play all the media I need to. This is the best setup I've ever had, and I really like it a lot. The picure is fed through the Epson Home Cinema 400 HD projector.

13 comments Smarty-pants Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:29:12 -0500 Corner 2 corner view http://gallery.avsforum.com/showphoto.php/photo/30349

by: Smarty-pants

Description: A view from the ne crorner to the sw corner of the room. The sw corner is where the door will go. Yes, there is still no door on the room. It will be installed soon. Everything in the room was built from scratch by my father and myself. The only thing we didn't do was lay the carpet. The north and east walls are foundation block walls that had 2"x3" studs and drywall already on them. However the studs do not connect to the upstairs walls, so we left those walls as-is. The south wall was also existing, and the west wall (rear) is new. On the south and rear walls, as well as the ceiling, we put 2 layers of drywall with Green Glue between for sound dampening. It made a HUGE difference. We also put insulation inbetween the floor joists, and installed flexable ductwork for the HVAC. I can now turn up the volume to moderate levels with the kids sleeping. :)

8 comments Smarty-pants Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:22:12 -0500 Side to side view http://gallery.avsforum.com/showphoto.php/photo/30348

by: Smarty-pants

Description: This is a view from one side of the room to the other. As you can barely tell, I have incorperated TWO sets of surround speakers. One for the front row, and one for the back. I havn't really done an extensive calibration of the audio yet, so hopfully it will work out well.

1 comment Smarty-pants Wed, 08 Apr 2009 17:14:10 -0500 Lights http://gallery.avsforum.com/showphoto.php/photo/30347

by: Smarty-pants

Description: A view of one of the sconce lights. I really like these lights that are lightweight brushed alluminum on the outside and white on the inside for maximum light output. They take the mini bulbs that go up to 60 watts and I have 6 in the room. One of my many, many bargains I've found on Ebay. Still debating wether I will keep them as-is or paint them black. Two tiers of seating. The ceiling is not even 7 feet from the floor, so it was a challenge getting the platforms just the right height, in combination with the seating distance, projector placement, and speaker placement. It was very difficult, but I am extremely satified with the end result. The ceiling tiles will be painted black in the near future. The ceiling grid is already black.

5 comments Smarty-pants Wed, 08 Apr 2009 16:31:51 -0500 Front wall http://gallery.avsforum.com/showphoto.php/photo/30344

by: Smarty-pants

Description: The temporary screen is simply a flat/smooth wall painted with Kilz2. Makes a fantastic screen. I'm surprised how nice it came out. I put "knock down" texture on all the walls, but left the part of the wall where the screen is at nice and smooth. When I build my new screen, I will simply place it over top of the white wall. I was tempted to just keep the white wall and put a border around it, but the screen material I have is light grey, and after a recent calibration, I think I still need better blacks, so the grey screen should help. Hi-def looks awesome, but standard def still needs more help in darker scenes, so I'm still planning for the grey screen.

2 comments Smarty-pants Wed, 08 Apr 2009 16:23:05 -0500
